A double crop soybean and wheat farmer is seeing some positives for the wheat industry.
“The most profitable rotation on our farm has been the wheat and double crop soybeans together. Year in and year out it has provided more topline revenue and better bottom line profit at the end of the year.”
Matt Wehmeyer farms in St. Clair county. He tells Brownfield the biggest improvement he has seen is recent years is genetics.
“The new wheat varieties are contributing higher yield levels than what we have seen in the past. There are new fungicides on the market that do provide longer residuals and better control.”
